Hi i graduated yr 2010.. Work as a customer service for 3yrs in a BPO company.then get fed up with call center routines. I decided to face my fear to take the NLE.. Luckily i passed the exam with a 80% board rating.

My problem is since i graduated 2010 I already forgot diff nursing skills and procedure.. How can i enhance my skills.. Im starting to read my nursing books again since i have plans to apply as a hosp nurse.

Can you help me on what will i do, what training or seminar will i attend for me to enhance my skills. Is there any hosp who will hire me?

Hi. You probably are just anxious about being in a totally unrelated field for a long time. Skills, concepts, and know how would come handy naturally once you need them once you are already in a hospital doing things a nurse should do. Like you I had long been in a hiatus before I was able to re-enter the nursing profession. I graduated in April 2008, took the board exam in November 2008, got the result in February 2009 and worked in a call center for 5 long years before I joined the RNHEALS program as a Psychiatric Nurse trainee. I was fearful too of being totally clueless about what to do while performing nursing tasks but the opposite happened. All the things we were taught in college one by one came out when I needed them and that was when I started reading nursing books again. I didn't have any sorts of training or what not before I joined RNHEALS but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

If you really want to join a training program to enhance your nursing skills, you may want to join the post grad training program of PGH specifically designed for those who have not been practicing nursing for more than 5 years. Just call the DNET office of PGH for inquiries.

Most hospitals require the basic trainings like ACLS, BLS and IVT but these do not guarantee any advantage for getting shortlisted for any vacancies or openings in any hospitals. Just submit your documents to different hospitals and never stop until you get hired. It's never easy to get in but it definitely would pay to really persevere and keep trying. Good luck.
