PND to BScN Bridging//need Advice!

Hello there,

I've been emailing as many people as I can, reading countless forums about this bridging to a BScN program and trying to get as many different opinions & advice as I can from everyone and anyone who may know about it. Constructive criticism is appreciated.

A little background...I was going the BScN program at Seneca-York but due to unfortunate circumstances I was "academically withdrawn" (just saying it now makes me cringe)..anyways, after that I decided to transferring to the PND program at Seneca (part-time) and am thinking of bridging to get a BScN degree.

And my questions...

Q1) Will being in a part-time program affect the opinions of admissions from these schools' I'm applying to?

Q2) How bad do you think it'll look when the transcript says "academically withdrawn" while still a good average was maintained during the PND program?

Q3) Transferring to the PND program admissions granted me equivalency for almost all of the courses I did well on during the BScN program. I'm taking the course that I believe by redoing will bring my GPA/avg. up, courses I didn't take (3rd and 4th semester courses) or other ones that wasn't required for the BScN program but are required for graduating the PND program. Hope that makes sense...so, is it better to retake semester one and two courses again even though I did well in them perhaps try to do better, or just leave them as they are and continue to take the remaining courses and try hard to do well in 'em?

Thanks,

A

1) It shouldn't, GPA is probably the main factor.

2) If your GPA is above most of the pool who are applying that year, I think you will still be a very strong candidate. You should e-mail the school and double check with them. But I think you should be alright since they probably emphasis more on the requirement which is the PND program.

3) If you did well on them, just leave them. You will probably send in your post-secondary transcript so they will see those courses anyways. Just focus on your other courses.

1) GPA is definitely the only factor for admission.

2) Colleges don't care why other than what you have and what you need to be successful.

3) if the college has exempted you from PND courses based on your university courses then leave that alone for now, concentrate on the others but, are you thinking about doing a bridge afterwards? That would be the only reason to keep a GPA up and retake them. If not then do the best you can and graduate which I'm sure you will. Bridge requirements I believe is 3.2 GPA from a college. I'm an RPN and bridging this fall at Centennial.

Thank you for your advice! Yes i'm planning on bridging to get my BScN degree.

"I'm an RPN and bridging this fall at Centennial"...thats amazing, congrats on your acceptance into that program. If you don't mind some follow up questions about your experience in applying to a bridging program!

1) So as an RPN and applying to Centennial were your courses graded as grades/averages or as SAT/UNSAT? My courses in this PND program is UN/SAT, hence don't know how to calculate my current overall avg.

2) Were you working as a RPN when you applied and were accepted to the bridging program?

Best Regards,

S

Thank you very so much for your advice! :)
