NCLEX in Canada

World Canada

Apparently, I was totally out of the loop. I'm only learning now that Canada is replacing CRNE with NCLEX! So here's my situation:

I am Canadian who applied to NY BON for NCLEX. Paper works are all done and BON only gave me until Feb. 5 for the validity of my ATT. So what happens if I pass and don't want to work in NY anymore but want to remain here in Canada instead? Will the (enter Province name) College of Nurses have to evaluate my papers for reciprocity or will there be another exam just to stay where I am?

Any inputs are greatly appreciated! :)

Are you Canadian educated?

Nope. I'm an IEN.

Then you need to be assessed by nnas before gaining eligibility for the Canadian NCLEX, after the NNAS assessment is complete (initial estimates are 2 years) you need to apply to your chosen college of nursing to see if you are eligible. Most of Canada requires a license in the country of education to be licensed in Canada.

There is no such thing as international license reciprocity. There is no reciprocity in the US either only the NCLEX result is accepted in all states. Licenses must be endorsed between states.

The NNAS assessment is new too after August 2014.

I am educated in the United States but in a few years, I am considering moving to ontario. I passed the NCLEX RN in 2015 and have a bachelors degree in nursing as well. Will I need to take the NCLEX again when I apply to the Ontario College of Nursing? I understand that they are now using NCLEX from PearsonVue which is the one I took this year.

You need to consult with CNO. Online it stated only applicants who filled an application with CNO last fall would be grandfathered.

Oh poop. Lol ok thanks! I guess I will cross that bridge when I get to it!
