hi allnurses,, im an RPN since September 2011 but its only now that im really looking for job as i never really had the time to focus on my nursing profession the past 2 years,, my inquiry is what advice can you give to an internationally educated nurse to land a job here in ontario? will agencies give me a better chance of employment than applying directly to hospitals and nursing homes? i have 5 years nursing experience as an operating room nurse in the philippines but as we know they usually dont give credit to experience if its not in canada,,, i already took some continuing education like bls, med administration, ivt, physical asessment etc so my resume will be more attractive,, any advices? im kinda worried that i might not land a job before my safe practice expires after 3 years,, any comments will be appreciated,, thanks!!

If you have no Canadian experience, your chances are slim unfortunately. ON is facing more cutbacks and hundreds of locally educated nurses cannot find work. The fact that you have not worked for an extended period of time is not in your favour.

Apply for anything you are qualified for including agency and nursing homes.
