Graduated in 2012, passed crne a year later and i'm finding it extremely hard to find employment. has nyone had similar experience? can you offer some advice?

I live in Toronto and I've been applying for RN posting since I got news in July of my passing. Are there any RNs on here who live in Toronto that can offer me some help? Resources? Places where I should apply? I'm on the cusp of homelessness and I feel like I've exhausted all the job search resources I know of.

Any advice or help is greatly appreciated,

Thanks

Hey thanks for the info... i think it would be an excellent idea to take some courses and show initiative, maybe it'll help keep me in the competition. i only have ACLS and wouldn't mind taking other courses. You mentioned RNAO helping fund some courses? can you give me more info on this? where can I get some more info?[/QUOT

Hi! If you go onto the rnao website they have a section for education grants. First you sign up and pay for the course you want to take. Once you pass the course you have to send in a transcript and receipt to rnao. Then they assess your status and will decide if they send you funding. Since I have never applied for funding before from the rnao I wasn't sure about the process. But 2 months later I was refunded a portion of the cost of my course. I took coronary care 1 and it cost about 300$-350$ initially. Worth to apply for!! They say they can't grant everyone Money but I didn't have an issue. However my coworker was denied funding because when she applied she was workig full time and her hospital was willing to cover some of the costs. I was unemployed at the time and got the funding....maybe being unemployed helps the funding situation?? Good luck!! I still had to relocate about an hour east of Toronto for my job but at this point in my life it's worth it :) let me what course you pick!! Currently I live in the Durham region (way east of Toronto lol) and I did my course through Durham college. Hope that helps!!!
