Alberta After Degree program, moving to Ontario.

Help please! I just graduated from the University of Alberta After Degree program and am moving home to Ontario. I have no idea where to begin in terms of where and how to register to be able to work as a graduate nurse in Ontario? What steps do I need to take? Is it recommended I write my NCLEX first and then apply?

Help! feeling super overwhelmed.

Thank you!

Check out information on the Nursing Graduate Guarantee here in Ontario- it's open to all Canadian new graduate nurses within 6 months of graduation (you can work on a temporary license with the College of Nurses of Ontario for the NGG but I'm not exactly sure of the process for that coming from Alberta, sorry!).

Be warned though, the job market is tough for nurses (especially new grads) in a lot of places in Ontario. Lots of competition and it takes a lot of nurses 6+ months to find a job.

Good luck :)

My understanding is you must register and pass the exam in the province you trained in. Then you follow CNO requirements Canada (outside Ontario)

You need to register in the Province you were educated. CARNA will send verification to the CNO for a fee.

Start the process ASAP. It can take 3 months before your documentation is finalized.
