Share The Weirdest Reasons Patients Push The Call Light

You guys always crack me up, so I came up with this question to hear more funny weird stories.

What were some funny, stupid, or weird reasons patients push the call light for?

Are you supposed to go to the room right away or how does it work? I will be an RN next year and interested in knowing more about the actual daily life w/ pt.

I have had this happen to me for someone who COULD wipe his own butt!! There is something about being in the hospital that makes people feel its okay to become deconditioned. Or I have had a patient who was young and admitted for PNA who was having bowel accidents in the chair and not letting staff know he needed to be cleaned! With all respect, I do not mind doing anything to help a patient who genuinely needs the help!!.. but I have had people who were in the hospital for minor issues and then bend over a bed asking to have their butts wiped! (all completely irrelevant to why they are there in the first place). My response to those people is always "oh, how do you do this at home?" to get them thinking of what would they normally do. It normally helps them identify their own abilities and strengths, enforces independence (within a safe limitation) and all without offending them!
