What's the funniest most unusual baby name?

Nurses Humor Nursing Q/A

As many of you know by now, Kim Kardashian had her baby. As if you couldn't miss all the annoying coverage over every single detail. They named that poor kid North West. What are some of the funniest/weirdest/most unusual baby names you have seen? Could be a patient or someone you know in your personal life. And if you are someone with one of those odd names did you just learn to live with it or would you change it.

Badger, River.

There used to be a lab tech where I work named Melina. Every time she had to phone the floor she would say, "Hello, this is Melina in the lab," and I had to fight not to giggle.

"Melina" (pronounced the same) is a Greek name that means "honey". If you are old enough you might remember the actress Melina Mercouri. (And incidentally, "Melissa" means "honeybee".)

When I worked in the nursery we had a girl baby who was given the name "Chivas Aspen". It provoked many snickers as to how/where she might have been conceived. We also had sisters born about 8 months apart who were called "Castle" and "Camry".

So then I went off elsewhere and encountered folks named "Cheerful" (F), "Tiny" (M, about 6 ft. tall and 250 lbs.), "Dimple"(F), "Gidget" (F, 30-ish), and "Lady". Growing up, I knew a county judge whose name, Lord help us, and this IS the truth (you can look it up, it was Milwaukee, WI), was Christ T. Seraphim. Christ was pronounced with a short "i" though.

I worked in a mother/baby unit. Names I heard or saw made me laugh or scratch my head. Tie''re, K8tieray, Larson the father of the baby was there shackled and had been charged with larson and strong arm robbery. Twins named He and She. Joel for a female pronounced Jo El. Boy name Lacii Jean. Poor kids I feel for them.

My eldest son has a Larkin in his class, and none of the kids seem to think his name is out of the ordinary. Honestly, my son's class is quite diverse in names - there's Peyton(f), Larkin(m), Ishnala(m), Serenity Grace(f), Walker(m), Ryder (m), Jaylen(m), Jaiden(f). Plus 10,000 ways to spell traditional names.

Sometimes I think kids pick up on how adults view names.

I think you are right. You know, I probably was viewing it as kids from MY childhood would view it and they would have worn Lark to a nub over it!

I met two elementary girls (twins) called Sky Dark and Sky Blue. In addition, there was an Amber alert about a Twinkle Twinkie Twilight a few days ago.

Margarita is a real name. It's the Spanish equivalent of Margaret. Now, for Daiquiri I don't have an explanation :p

There's arson and there's larceny. There's no larson.

I just choked with laughter while reading this!

You are absolutely correct, but it never even penetrated my brain prior to your post. I accepted 'larson' like it was a real thing.

I saw these names in an obit a few years ago and just rediscovered the clipping I saved. I hope I don't offend anyone, especially if someone from these folks' families were to see this. If you ARE from the family with these names, ya gotta admit they aren't names most of us would run across very often. And the names also make me wonder if their are nicknames or diminutives ...

(I have not put any last names in this list)

Yesterday while I was in L/D, two twins: Arrow (female), and Hatch (male).

RN: So tell me why you went with those names?

Dad: We wanted to name our children after weapons.

Oh....cool?

Little Glockie

SlingShot

Dart

Shiv(lette)
