Nurse Staffing agencies

Nurses Job Hunt

Published

Do nurse staffing agencies usually hire/work with new graduates? Would anyone recommend using a nurse staffing agency as a new grad? I'm very leery of agencies but feel I don't have much of an option anymore. I've been applying to jobs everywhere since October and have only been on one interview. Everyone wants a BSN or experience. I'm getting very desperate and frustrated.

Many of them can actually get you great new grad postions but beware they will take half your salary for the first Two years..... That's my personal expiereice

A lot of agencies are happy to try to place a nurse as permanent staff in a facility for a percentage of your salary for the first year or two. If you are trying very hard to get into a specific facility and/or this is a financial blow that you are willing to weather, it may be worth considering.

If you work for a staffing agency you get the worst nursing assignments in the country--literally.

Staffing agencies are spamming their areas of operation with countless job ads, which makes it look like there are lots of companies hiring, but be wary of unscrupulous staffing agencies. They milk your nursing license for their profit and they have no stake in you being happy or loyal or staying with them.

I would contact a staffing agency only in emergency, such as cash running out and nothing else working out.
