Hospitals in Miami-Dade that hires new grads?

Nurses Job Hunt

Published

I graduated in July with my ADN and I just received my license a couple of weeks ago. I've just begun seriously hunting for jobs and I'm feeling a little intimidated and discouraged because of all the stories I've heard about how miserable it is for a new grad to get in the door in Miami. I probably went a bit overboard, but I've applied online to almost every open RN position at at least four or five hospitals. New grad residency programs aren't really an option because all of them I've found don't start until next year, so I have to be aggressive and beg my way into an acute care position. I'm putting together a portfolio and I'm about to start going from hospital to hospital and just walking straight into the HR department to hand in my resume in person. If I don't get any bites from doing that, then I'll expand my search to LTC, rehab, and private offices. Does anyone know of any hospitals who are somewhat receptive to new grads? Jackson and Kendall Regional are my dream hospitals, but I'm also looking into Mercy, Miami Children's, Mount Sinai, and every hospital in the area. I probably won't even bother with Baptist because I know they won't even give you the time of day of you don't have a year of experience, and I'm already at a disadvantage with them because I don't have y BSN yet.

DId you find anything? Which Hospital are you at?
