Hmmm... just to get this conversation started, my favorite journals are Nurse Educator and the Journal of Nursing Education. I also enjoy the American Journal of Nursing, the Journal of Infusion Nursing, RN Magazine, and Nursing 2005. Now that I have graduated (with my MSN :biggringi ) and will no longer be able to access the online journals through the extensive university library services, I will need to consider which subscriptions I wish to buy.

I can still access thru USF's library, so I have a wide choice but I generally read the Journal Of Nursing Education first.

I also just graduated with my MSN, YEAH! Congrats Vicky, I like Nurse Educator, Journal of Nursing Scholarship, and My Love, Critical Care Nurse.

The nursing school I will be working for subscribes to Nurse Educator, and other journals, so I can still have those at my fingertips, thank goodness!!

Student Nurse Association Magazine (It's good to know what other students are thinking as well)

Imaginative Classroom teaching like : Sugar, Sugar or Sugar Shack playing when the diabetes class is taught, The Lab Sucks when discussing chest tubes, NG tubes, ETT suctioning, etc, and Granny Got Run Over By A Reindeer for multiple trauma unit. There are a few for the burn section, too, but I won't mention too many of them here..think "Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire" you get the drift. It makes clinicals fun.

Along with the Nurse Educator, I use JOGN, RN mag, Nursing 2005. Also, frequent Medsape and Medline for tips. Some more less frequently utilized.

I'm going to add an odd one to the list: "The Chronicle of Higher Education"

That's the weekly newspaper for universities. It doesn't have much about nursing in it, but it does focus on what's happening on college campuses around the country, issues in higher education, faculty careers, non-academic careers for people with graduate degrees, and issues/trends in the education and careers of people in and just graduated from college.

As someone whose work focuses on the nursing workforce (its characteristics and development), I find it very helpful to read things about college students and new grads from a perspective outside nursing.
