Activities that get people out of their seats help alot to break things up. Even a stretch break or a back scratch break can help.
Have some contests. Form a couple of groups and pose a question for which the group must determine an answer. A representative writes the answer on a board. First group with an answer wins something small.
Have a beanbag toss for question and answer times. People throw the beanbag to others who have questions and only the beanbag holder can ask a question. Then he throws it to the next person wanting to talk.
I went to a workshop one time on presenting long presentations. It said we are programmed by tv to only have about a 17 minute attention span, and as we're involved in a topic, the span gets shorter and shorter. So, it's important to change what the group is doing about every 17 minutes so people don't lose ability to pay attention...

I present all-day workshops
on Power Point
I'm presently seeking
other teaching methods
(i.e., role-playing, small group discussions,
small group presentations)
that will promote
the learning process
within that format.
Got any ideas?
Thanks!!!---in advance!
