Masters in Education Advice/Help

Hello,

I am looking for help on getting information on what a masters in education program will be like. I have applied for a complete ONLINE part-time (2 classes as semester) program. I will continue to work full time (3-12 hour shifts a week), married and have a 1 year old, but have full family support on going back to school. I have my BSN, so this will be BSN to MSN. Just would like any information anyone can give me on the program. I am completely clueless going into this. What are the expectations on clinicals, how difficult are the classes, is it totally manageable to work full time and go to school full time for this degree? I am getting myself very stressed about how I'm going to do this and would like any feedback someone could give me that has done this before.

Without the name of a school, your questions cannot be answered. Each school develops its own program, although if accredited must need the criteria.

You just need sufficient time in your week. I think I spent about 8 hours per week per class, but that varied a lot (usually more not less). If you have a Capstone project that will be a second job for a while. I was able to do my school when I took my kids to their school. I worked nights. It is difficult but worth it if you are motivated. Online classes require regular participation so you can't just do it all in one shot like on a Saturday night. Good luck.

I am in my final class before my Capstone project in an accredited online MSN in Nursing Education (Excelsior). I've been working on it for almost 4 years, but while in the program I've had one baby (who is now 4) and adopted 2 others, who are now 1 and 2. I've enrolled in 2 classes twice but had to drop one class. The work is not, in my opinion, hard, but there are only so many hours in the day and you have to keep up with the work.

I typically get on the computer after the kids go to bed, and I work for 1 1/2 - 3 hours most nights. It takes me 2-3 hours for each week's discussion question, one-page with 2-3 references. When I have a paper due I hire sitters so I can work on it for longer stretches of time, so maybe twice a semester.

Learn APA well-I use Purdue Owl as a reference. Good luck!
