Do Educators Scroll Through the Student Forums??

As a nursing student checking out what the other side is thinking and feeling... I'm just wondering if any educators ever stroll through the student forums and take a listen to our concerns and comments as well? :) If so, do you find it enlightening?

I enjoy reading the student posts during my leisure (ha-ha) time. For me (as a relatively new educator), trying to see things through the student perspective is very valuable. I am an empathetic person, and I "seek first to understand." Through the student postings I vicariously experience the enthusiasm, the joy, and also feel the pain, frustration, and never-ending stress. It helps me to have a whole new dimension as an educator.

You bet I do, I am trying to improve and improve our program too, many times I can better understand the anxieties of nursing students and try to be a cheerleader and encourager!

I'm not an educator yet (in MSN ed. program). I certainly do read them, and try to respond. I want to get a feel of what they are going through, and to see if it's the same issues as when I was an undergrad.

I also make it a point to talk to some on the floor (when they are doing clinicals or externships). I love to hear about their experiences. I hop this will help me to be a better instructor, when the time comes.
