Does anyone know if I could transfer to my final year of nursing school? I am currently in Hawaii but would go back to California if that was possible. Any ideas or recommendations!

You would need to contact the nursing school and ask them. My understanding is it is very hard to do

The gist of the problem --- Nursing education is a "program" rather than a "major". Although the majority of the content is dictated by accreditation requirements, each school can arrange that content in any way they choose. For instance, one school may have a completely separate "pharmacology" course while another may simply integrate the pharmacology content in to each clinical module. Most of the time, they also add in some extra requirements that reflect that school's mission, like catholic schools that require religion/ethics courses.

As a result, it is a huge problem to transfer to another school. The receiving school would need to conduct an in-depth equivalency analysis to figure our exactly which requirements you have already satisfied and then translate this information into 'credits' for their curriculum. Most schools are unwilling to do this since they are already struggling to keep up with hordes of students clamoring for admission through regular channels. They may offer you an opportunity to 'challenge' courses via some sort of testing mechanism, but that is usually a one-shot (pass/fail).

There is an exception in the case of schools that already have a pre-existing mobility agreement or partnership in which they have already mapped out course transfer equivalencies to facility academic advancement. .. LVN --> RN --> BSN --> MSN. Most commonly, this would involve regional agreements between a 4-year school & the community colleges in that area.
