I am trying to figure out the starting hourly rate for an Rn fresh out of nursing school. I realize it varies from hospital to hospital and position to position, but I can't seem to get a straight answer out of anyone. So if I finish school and get my first job say on a Med/Surg floor or in a nursing home, how much can I expect to make?

The general consensus is that most facilities in LTC start out 25-26/hr...as far as hospitals that can vary from the mid-late 20s to thirties/hr...it is too much varied to pin it down.

You also have to take into account shift differentials which depend on the facility.
