Cammi,

You sound like a very determined person with very specific goals in mind. I'm so glad you have decided to pursue nursing as your career.

The thing about nursing education that surprises most people is how difficult it is - lots of math and science & just plain hard work. If your high school classes don't include Biology, Chemistry and Algebra II (at least), you may have some catching up to do. You will need to pass an entrance examination to be considered for most professional nursing education programs - advanced High School courses are a must.

I would suggest you make an appointment with your local community college - hopefully one that offers a 2-year nursing program. Talk to a counselor about your plans and get some recommendations. It is not unusual to start with some 'leveling' (non credit) courses at first to prepare you for the heavy duty courses you will need for nursing.

Best of luck to you! Keep us updated on your progress.
