So, I got a call today to have my first interview with the nurse recuiter for my dream job at a children's hospital. I applied for a recruitment session that was by invitation only just to see what they had to say... And to see if I could get some insight on what peds department I may fit best in.

Here's the thing..... 9 weeks ago, I had surgery to repair my rotator cuff. (I'm young... and a new nurse, and it's been terribly fristrating.) I have been really disappointed with how my job has handled the whole thing. I am constantly being pushed to do things I'm not cleared (medically) for, and honestly, I'm nervous about rehabing this shoulder in this ER (which is why I was thinking about switching jobs anyways... the stress of thinking about rehabing my shoulder here is killing me).

So, at the 12 week mark, I can start actually nursing again. It will take 3 more months until it's "normal" again. My question is... do I just do the interview, see where it goes? I am nervous about burning a bridge that I really, REALLY dont want to burn! Is it unfair to open this door if I'm still on some kind of restriction? I just wanted to hear what they had to say!!

That's a touchy situation, isn't it? Times are tough right now and competition for jobs is fierce. I would go in with enthusiasm and let them know how much you want to work there!! It often takes a month just to go through the background check, paperwork and clearance. Do not hide your injury if they inquire (on paper or otherwise). If they do offer a job, and you are not medically cleared to work/perform the duties expected, you would need to be honest about it.But IF you are fairly sure you you are nearly well, and soon will have no limitations, I don't see why you would have to bring it up this early in the game...pursue the job and see where it goes.3 mos is not far off. They also might not mind waiting for you if you impress them. Never hurts to try. Good luck!!
