RN Refresher course--changing specialty

I posted this same thread in the OB boards last week. I just found this forum today. I would love advice or input! Thanks for your interest!

Hello all~~ I am new to these boards. I have been out of the nursing world for about 14 years now.
In the past, I have worked ortho, oncology, and most extensively, med-surg. I always yearned to work OB but was led to believe that getting into OB nursing of any kind without any experience is way too difficult.
I have been happy raising my three daughters ages 15, 12, and 9. Lately, I am thinking that there is room in our lives for me to return to part-time or supplemental work. With my husband's support, I am planning on entering a RN re-entry program. The course includes 150 hours of clinical time.
After speaking to the director of the refresher program I was told that I could complete my hours anywhere on any unit that could be arranged. She encouraged me to do my clinical on an OB floor at one of three hospitals in our city.
My question is this~~~is it worth the risk to channel all of my energy into OB nursing? It really is all that I want to do but I am wondering if they will hire a 40-year old RN that has been out of nursing for what seems like a hundred years vs. one with experience or fresh out of school. Also, I will be happy to orient full-time but only really want to work part-time or supplemental.
Any input would be greatly appreciated. My family is really excited and supportive. It feels like a really great decision to go back but I really only want to train to be an OB nurse!!
Comments and advice please!!
