Pre-BSN / Nurse-AA degree?

Nurses Career Support

Published

Hello everyone,

Long time lurker, first time poster here.

I want to transition into the healthcare field as a second career. Because of existing credentials, I'm only a few credits away from an A.A. degree in Nursing.

In the state where I live, the AA degree covers most of the natural science but includes no clinicals or any hands-on nursing experience. It's basically the first 2 years of the BSN curriculum.

Is that kind of degree helpful in finding low-paid or volunteer work? Some programs that I'm interested in look for prior experience in a healthcare setting and/or letters of recommendations from healthcare professionals. Maybe an A.A. degree will help in collecting those and make me feel more qualified :chuckle

What do you think? Thanks in advance for any input/advice.

Jo
