Nurses Career Support

Published

Hi...I'm considering an RN position with PP in the midwest.Does anyone know the general per hour pay range for this position? They want me to discuss my salary requirements at the interview, and I don't have a clue.I've searched the web,but can't find anything about this.

Thanks!

i really enjoy working there!! its not so overwhelming, but also not enough experience as working in the hospital. Also depending on your personality either you will be able to deal with it well or it may be tough (if your does abortions)...other then that the hiring process took a total of 1 month, they ask you if you can handle that kind of stuff etc, they asked me a lot of questions, but that was partly because i was waiting for the supervisor they kept asking me more and more until she got there. but it wasn't bad.

when answering, give yourself a second to think, and just be honest, thats the best advice i can give you. they called me back within 2 days to tell me i was hired, and then i had to do background checks, reference checks, etc, and pre-employment physical. hope that helps! and good luck :nurse:

oh about the pay, they basically told me what they offered, and cant negotiate because its union, and i was an entry level position so!

Thank you for your response!

When the manager (I'm guessing she's a hiring manager??) called me, she asked a lot of questions about my opinions on abortion, teens getting treatment/bc/etc without parent consent, and wanted to know what I know about PP. She asked me what I was looking for in hours and pay...I wasn't expecting it (to be asked over the phone), so I just gave her a range of $17-$20. This seems to be the going rate for LPN's in Columbus OH- at least for LTC and some clinics- One of the big hospitals only offered me $14.67 to start...and I have over 10 years experience as a medical assistant.

Anyway, I'm very excited about the interview- I have an interest in sex education- especially for teens.

Thanks again!

Planned Parenthood affiliates range in what services they provide and, as such, what their pay scales are. Not all PPs use RN's...some don't even use LPNs.

Because of that, it's very hard to "guesstimate" what the beginning pay may be. It will most likely be over $20 an hour, but nowhere near hospital pay. To work there, you have to be all about the mission...those who aren't, usually don't stick around because of the low wages.

I am also about to graduate from my LPN program and I am very interested in working at PP, there's something about teaching people about sex education that I enjoy. I was just hoping if anyone can give me advice in applying. I have not yet called to ask if they hire LPN's but there were no job post online. For the nurses who have applied to PP, did you just go in and apply or responded to a job posting? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

If I were you, I would send in a resume to the administrative office or clinic you're most interested in working for. Each clinic could be looked at as part of a larger franchise, as most affiliates have more than one health center they operate. By forwarding your resume to the administrative offices, you are opening up the pool of clinics that your resume can reach. Good luck!
