Hey everybody, I am trying to decide on whether I should be a dh or get my bsn and eventually become an np. I am unsure because one of the main reasons being the divorce rate due to long hours.. I was curious what are the hours like as a np working in a private practice? And how big are job oppurtunities for np trying to get a job in private practice? I have a long term boyfriend and really do not want my career to hurt my future family. I love dh, but I feel like I may be limited in that career, but as a np I may be limited on seeing my future family. Thank you!

There's no comparison between being a dh and an np, the pay, benefits, and opportunities for np will be astronomically better, even if you're working part-time. It's true that as an FNP you'll be pressured to see a lot of patients quickly in many clinical environments which can lead to late nights, but if you put a little time and effort into finding a place that respects you and what you bring to the table you'll have opportunities for a much more fulfilling and rewarding career.

Wow, So dental hygienist have a high divorce rate? I did not know that.

Nursing vs Dental Hygienist? I am biased but nursing offers so many opportunities to work in a multitude of settings. But, it also requires more education and with that more responsibility. Just curious, what are average earnings annually for dental hygienists? The local community college has a program & it is an associate of applied science. NPs minimum is Master's degree.
