New Grad looking for job in CA

by msirks

I just graduated from nursing school in the beginning of may from Portland, OR and am still waiting for my ATT. But my biggest problem is trying to get hired as a new grad in California! There are 3 hospitals in the Monterey Bay area I have been applying to and talking to the nurse recruiters, but they are not hiring new grads right now! I don't understand why, because they have at least 13 RN positions open, but do not consider new grads for them, and only RN II/III, with at least 1 year of experience! Any advice? I have also put in my resume at several nearby clinics, to fall back on. But still nothing.

I can tell you from experience that it is almost impossible to get a job in the Monterey Bay area, whether you are a new grad or experienced.
