Hello,

I wanted to know how many of you decided to go to LVN school and then transition to a RN program and then to get your BSN? Is it better to stair step the ladder, does it make it easier or do you wish you would of done it different? Any advice?

Depends on where you live and what your end goal is. Here in New England there are very few job opportunities for an LVN. Look at help wanted adds and see what if like in your area if getting a job as soon as possible is in your plans.

If if you want to work acute care you will need a BSN. Again it is regional for now, but national standards are pushing for bsn to be the minimum for acute care, and many non acute care options are following suit. If you have the option financially and time wise go straight to BSN and be done with it. If you need to work to pay the bills or are not able to commit to a 4 year school then look for an associates program, then do the bsn portion with one of the many online options. IMO LVN is a waste of time depending on where you are and where you want to be.
