LTC or jail?

Nurses Career Support

Published

Hey guys, I finally got an offer at a nursing home. I'm supposed to call her tomorrow to tell her if I want to take it. The problem is its at a LTC facility that is about a 45 minute drive. It does have a good reputation and is fairly small with only 2 wings. I'm also waiting to hear from the lady from the local jail for an interview. I think I would rather go there as it is a lot closer and more of what I want to do. I had an interview a few months back, but never heard from them. I think it had to do with the fact I had no experience working as a nurse. Now I only have very limited as I was oriented in a LTC nearby, but their census is low and I was placed on prn and have'nt been back since. But I guess it qualifies as experience right? The NH job is starting out as PT, but will lead to FT if it works out. The jail has both FT and PT openings. Not sure what I should do. I'm thinking I should except the LTC job until I find out about the other one as any experience would be good. Plus maybe I could work both places PT and quit the factory once and for all. Sound like a plan?
