I interviewed a few weeks ago for a job that seems like it would be my "dream job". I put that in quotations because I'm not really sure what my dream job is or will be until I actually do it. It's a position as a research nurse working on an exciting cutting-edge treatment at a major research hospital.
Sounds like a no-brainer, except that it's a temporary position. When I interviewed they told me there were 4 temp positions and 1 permanent position. I made my preferences known that I preferred the permanent position. Now they've contacted me to check references for the temp position. There's a small chance that this could lead to another permanent opportunity at the hospital, but nothing is guaranteed. I'd basically be quitting my stable, permanent position (which I'm unhappy at) for a 6-month temp position that could leave me in a precarious position come the end of summer.
