you have to graduate from an accredited RN program, in my case the school sent the BON my school grades and courses and graduation date and then i could apply for the boards. i was in nursing school for 4 years for my RN degree. i hope this is the answer to your question. good luck in your future schooling.

well one of my co-workers has this friend who is an LPN and she took the NCLEX exam but she failed. i think i have much better knowledge about the day to day practices of an RN than she does. im just not sure about the eligibility requirements.

you could contact the board of nursing in NY area where you live and see what they say about taking the boards. my sister took her RN boards in NY and she graduated from a RN program and then i followed and graduated from a RN program and my sister and I both passed RN boards the first time. i would also check into RN programs in your area. see what they require for you to apply. good luck

The eligibility requirements is that you have to graduate from an RN program (diploma, ADN, BSN-it doesn't matter) which takes 2-4 years. Your school will help you with the NCLEX registration process. Then you will apply for the test & take it at a testing center. Most nurses pass it on the first try but some don't and that's OK. There are even courses to teach you how to take the test for those who have graduated nursing school.
