Does it mean you are hired when they send you for a drug screen?

This is really my -perfect- job. Its a LTAC agency inside of a level 1 trauma hospital in a large city. The unit is very large and the patients can very from something small and not-so serious to severe trauma. I love the fact I will get to see and do nearly everything. I love the experience. This is also the same company (different location) of where I had my senior practicum.

Anyways,

I interviewed yesterday, both the HR woman and NM was very nice and down to earth. I thought the interview went very well. The NM was surprised I hadnt been 'snatched up' already. She also said that I seem to be a very professional and sound minded young lady. That must have been one of the best compliments she could have given me. Anyways, she sent me to lapcorp right after the interview. Does that mean I have a good chance of being hired? I really hope so. I love my practicum and I feel I would love this job as well.

First of all- Great Job! It sounds like you gave a really solid interview. That's awesome!

Second of all- no, not necessarily. It's unlikely they'll spend money to give you a drug screen if they're not really really interested in you. However, you only have the job when someone from the company says, "We're offering you a job as a staff nurse at XYZ LTAC for $zyx differential. Typically it will be the HR recruiter that contacts you and makes the final offer, not the floor manager. Often it takes a few days to a few weeks before they'll officially offer you the job, so don't stress if you don't hear anything right away.

Good luck!

The drug screen is a really good sign: it means you're being seriously considered and that an offer is likely. But don't get too excited: even if you pass the drug screen a job offer is not guaranteed: for that, you need the official offer from HR. Your chances look very good though.

Good luck!
