does GPA matter?

Does GPA matter when applying for a Licensed Practical, or any, nursing position? I am just finishing up my first semester of nursing courses and am surprised at how difficult the exams are no matter how hard I seem to study! Do employers look at GPA as a factor when determining who they hire or what they offer you in salary or position?

Generally, no they do not, unless it's a competetive position. If there are many applicants, then they would fine tooth the resume and perhaps choose someone with a high GPA over someone else. There's a lot to consider when hiring someone, and GPA might only be part of it.

Not in general, but I know that some specialty internships require a minimum gpa to be considered.
