Clinical research?

Nurses Career Support

Published

Any clinical research nurses or coordinators here? How do you like working in your field? I am currently a coordinator who doesn't have a clinical background. I am considering either getting an RN or becoming a speech language pathologist. I know, two totally different fields...but I figure with the RN I can stay in research or I could practice. The SLP career track appeals to me because of the nature of the job and it may a better personality fit.

For the nurses working in clinical research: do you ever plan on going back to practicing? And how important do you think it would be for me to become an RN if I wanted to stay or increase my pay as a research coordinator? Right now I'm starting to feel a little stuck because I'm maxing out on pay/progress in the university setting I'm working in.
