Anesthesia Or MSN in Nursing Administration?

Nurses Career Support

Published

Hello, This is my first post of many as i go through Nursing school, im enrolling in a BSN program Fall 2006, im curently in high school. I have just a few questions =].

I know Nurse Anesthesia is a good career but im wondering if this field will be so swamped in the comming years that there wont be a place for me, everyone i talk to that is enrolling in Nursing School plans to become one. I know the reason is primarily for money but i also know there can only be a curtain number of these jobs.

Another question, The school im going to has a MSN in Nursing Administration, im wondering if anyone has on of these and if it help at all? If you have a Nursing Admin degree can you start off as an assistant Manager or Supervisor?

The two fields im trying to choose from are Nurse Anesthesia or Nurse Administration. Money doesnt matter, i just want a job that i would want to get up everyday and go do.

P.S. The school im enrolling in is UNCG.

Do not even worry about that at this point. You have way too much in front of you. And yes, you will hear that everyone wants to become a CRNA, but how many of them are actually aware of what a CRNA does?

There still are only a certian number of positions available each year for training. And number wanting far exceed the number of spots.

Concern yourself with getting thru school with the best grades you can, then you will know what you will want to do, as well as what you will be able to do.
