I just had a interview today that went really well. Assuming I'm offered the job, I'll be receiving a month's long orientation session because I'm a new RN. This is all great, except for the fact that I was recently accepted to University of Washington's RN-to-BSN program for the Fall, and, assuming my girlfriend has the same luck (she should be notified by next week) I'll be planning to move out there late September.

So...being in this position, would you recommend accepting the job to gain experience, knowing that you might be leaving in 4 months, or, would you continue working as a nurse tech with an RN license (like I'm doing now).

Any thoughts, consideration, support would be much appreciated!

Well I'm not sure a RN-BSN program is worth quitting your nursing job after 4 months without a guarantee of being able to get a another with only 4 months experience. My recommendation is not based on loyalty persay but planning your career wisely. I'd say take the position and ask for a deferment from the university for say a semester. I mean what point is a BSN really if you giveaway your job to get it?

Since you have said option of continuing with a tech job, I *highly* recommend asking your employer which option they prefer! Skills and time on-the-job are important but so is the recommendation you can receive when you leave that company!!! If you let them know you are willing to do what is best for them, they will likely support you in return.

Im sort of in the same boat. I took a job for the summer, knowing that there is a good possibility they will not work with my school schedule when I go back. On one hand I feel like there is a slight tinge of dishonesty there but on the other hand I feel that the job market is cut throat right now and Im not going to ruin my chances of a perfectly good summer opportunity.
