The Other Side of ObamaCare - Nurse's Health Benefits

Nurses Activism

Published

Few things are certain for nursing regarding the new healthcare laws, one thing not so clear however will be how hospitals and others such as registries will deal with changes in how they provide healthcare benefits to nurses and other staff.Much as many hate to consider them so, hospitals are businesses, either run for profit or not for profit, either way the landscape has changed. Several large Fortune 500 companies already have announced charges to their bottom line due to changes in accounting rules, and more are sure to follow. Retired persons with certain benefits that now can be had via Medicare seem to be at risk of having that coverage taken away via employers, but there are bound to be more changes.Obama and the Democrats seem to believe businesses will simply take any increase in costs on the chin, and consider society as a whole, but at least my experience tells me that wish may be a bit premature.Thoughts?

for 2011, we are currently running running federal spending at an annual rate of $3.818 trillion on revenues of $2.174 trillion, for an annualized deficit of $1.644 trillion. this data is readily available on tables published directly on the white house website: http://www.whitehouse.gov/omb/budget/historicals

so, we're borrowing $1.644t against spending of $3.818t. 1.644 / 3.818 = 0.43>>

do you think colors help ? let me try it. i don't think you'd know truth if it ran you over if your presentations here are anything to go by. so far you've attributed citations to me i haven't said, piled the thread with propoganda from crackpot websites, and now are projecting deficits illiterately. thus you are in no position to be lecturing anyone and braying about how smart you are and admonishing people, ridiculously. i have never said the bush and now current deficts were not a problem. but i have said i am not interested in resolving them on entirely upon the backs of people who were not responsible for creating them.

there's nothing even remotely on your link that supports your agenda.

you produced an equation assuming that economic growth is static, outlays are static and the tax code is static.

you have no idea what tax revenues will be forward as they depend upon economic growth and tax code. christ, even senator ryan understands that and used a ludicrous 4.5% rate of growth to project the justifications for dissolving medicare - you know the program that is shelling out for about 70% of your patients if your census is like the rest of the country.

you are parrotting wild-eyed projections based on the current economic growth remaining static, that current defense projections continue, the tax code is static and ignore the well underway steps the nation is taking to streamline healthcare costs. all of which will make a huge impact. you also assume nothing is being done about deficits and that is untrue.

i find it really telling the radical right uses economic growth factors of 0% when it fits its agenda and then 4 or 5% when that's convenient. how morally bankrupt can you get?

it's yet more so you would even suggest balancing debt created by failed supply side economics over and over again on the backs of our future patients. i promise you that your ilk will not be doing that if there's anything i can do to stop it.

if you were so worried about deficits why were you silent as they were created for the past 10 years. back then the demogogues on am radio were and bush administration were telling us 'deficits don't matter'? i bet anything you were parrotting that too.

why insist on the extension of what were supposed to be temporary taxcuts for the luxury class when they so obviouly did not produce the economic prosperity promised by george w. bush when it made it his top mandate upon taking office?

why did you just support their extension? unless you've been dead you knew it would 3 trillion dollars of red ink to the debt, oh beacon of fiscal responsiblity!

why propose another big round of tax cuts for the top with the dissolution of medicare?

that's not what people who are interested in reducing deficits do.

now if you'll pardon me i have work to do.

PS -AZ , should I have some of my pals create accounts to help out the traffic too? ;-)
