Alice Fisher RN...had not heard of this pioneer. Philadelphia General Hospital School of Nursing hand ceased to exist and hospital closed just as I graduated LPN school in 1977. It was the last public hospital in Pennsylvania. I worked at a nearby Catholic teaching hospital 20 blocks away that RN's sought employment and patients then transfered to for care . I can remember a few patients in late 70's yelling down the hallway they "wanted the PGH nurse" known by their distinctive cap rather than another RN from BSN program "cause those RN's know their stuff".
