How do accountants with asthma cope? Are you a highly unstable asthmatic?

I have asthma. At one point I was so unstable and stuck in status astmaticus that I required intubation & ventilator assist x5.5 days. Threatened with a trach for day 6/7.

I'm still here. I follow my pulmonologist's recommendations & take care of myself.

Thanks, JBN for your words of encouragement... (I still have to see a pulmonologist . I am only using albuterol tid , as prescribed by my regular doctor).

As long as your asthma is well controlled, it should not be an issue.

Thanks mama RN. I really really need to see a pulmonologist and have my condition and meds reevaluated.... I just dread the thought of using a lot of meds/ steroids...,but i need to if i want to get it in control.

I have asthma and have been a nurse for almost 17 years. The only times I've had issues were when the hospital was using a particular chemical to clean the carpet that went straight to my airways and caused me to go downstairs to the ER for breathing treatments. They wound up having to change their cleaning chemicals. Other than that, nursing itself has never created any asthma problems for me.

It does sound like you need better medical management, however. Please see your primary care provider ASAP.

Thanks VivaLV, you give me a ray of hope!

I have had asthma my whole life. Took a few tries, but I am on a med that really keeps me controlled and I don't have any issues at work.

Is your asthma controlled?

Its not, Bouncyball. I have to have my condition re-evaluated.
