Nurses Recovery

Published

Wondering if anyone can shed light on timeframe for the Texas BON. I was reported months ago for opiate addiction and all the bells and whistles that go along with it! I haven't been contacted by the board. What is the experience of other nurses from Texas on notification of investigation. I thought an immediate removal from practice or something would've occured by now.

They will take there sweet time!!They will not remove u from practice until the investigation has been completed. They will put u on an agreed order and monitor you first most likely or order TPAPN....Then if u screw up again they can and WILL suspend ur license.

I've talked to some nurses that it was 18 mo my personal experience was 7 mo.

I self reported after pleading "Nolo Contendre" to a DWI (etoh)... I wrote a letter, after 2 weeks I called in, Once I spoke to someone at the TxBON office things moved pretty fast. I was ordered into TPAPN, a case manager contacted me by mail and phone within a week. I was ordered to stop working until I was cleared to start the program. took about 4 weeks. Personally I didn't want to sit and wait, wanted to get things goings. If the got your number the storm is brewing, you may want to call the BON to check in.... Peace

To clarify 5 mo to here back 2 mo to set up TPAPN so 7 mo to get reported and start program.

First time I was notified I responded immediately and heard NOTHING at all until 6 months later.
