ISNAP & Diverting

Nurses Recovery

Published

I was caught diverting at work in Indiana by my DON. I did not get reported to the police. I self reported to ISNAP. My DON reported me to the attorney general. Does anyone in indiana know if theres any chance the attorney general will close my case? (I saw in an ISNAP newsletter that sometimes the attorney general will refer the person to ISNAP if the complaint involves drugs or alcohol and close the file.) Any advice for what to put in my attorney general statement?

If I was you, I'd consult with an attorney who specializes in dealing with issues before the Board. There are a few good ones in IN but due to terms of service on AN I can't specifically endorse anyone. Do that BEFORE responding to the AG, they can help you to not write something that is not in your best interests. They will also be able to answer your questions about the AG.

If you are contacted by any investigators, be very mindful about what you say. This is why hiring a lawyer is the best first step. They can deal with the investigators, while you focus on sobriety and getting clean.

In most states, it looks better if you self reported, even if someone did make a complaint about you regarding the issue.

Good luck, and keep us posted. Good job on self reporting. A better life awaits you, if you reach for it.
