How is TPAPN even confidential?

Nurses Recovery

Published

I need to vent a little. How is TPAPN considered confidential? By the time we interview for dozens and dozens of jobs, disclosing that I am on TPAPN, all of Corpus Christi will know I am TPAPN. Then, if someone shows me mercy one day and gives me a job, the tedious paperwork required makes the employer list 2 other staff member's names and phone numbers. It is insane. If I decide to go to school, guess what? Must disclose. SMH...I may try to get a job in a non-nursing role. But that is all I know :(

I hear your frustration. This is my second chance in Tpapn. In the early 90's and now at 2.5 yr mark. Dont give up. Youve been a nurse a long time. You will get job. Dont worry about people knowing. You are in this for you. I dont know your story, but I would rather people whispering i am in recovery rather than about my being a practicing addict. Also, my actions in recovery are what I am proud of. Not having your story posted on the BNE website is one if the benefits of confidentiality. I suggest learning about the history of tpapn and go to website and view videos and be really pro tpapn in your interviews. Minimize the paperwork, which honestly its a less than 5 minute mtg every 3 months encourage person to view those too. Some units need a breath of fresh air. You can be it! Good luck!

Thanks Blondie. I welcome your encouragement. I will look at the videos and be prepared for the next interview.
