Is the board assistance program the way to go?

Hi!! I'm new to this site. I'm in upper management, and thinking about getting help for my drinking outside of work. I never drink at work, but feel I"m getting out of control. Has anybody turned to their board peer assistance program for help? DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO and don't want to loose my position!?!!

I also agree with not reporting. If your desire to stop is great enough you will beat it if not your next drunk is around the corner. I wish I had done it on my own but I thought hey theyll help me they are there for me. 3 months, a liscence with restrictions, 1000.00 in drug test which cost 76.00 a pop for at least 3 years, substance abuse classes 2500.00 and attend aa meetings. I could have just went to AA and beat this thing kept my job pay etc and no one would be the wiser. I'm grateful for a program to turn to but just know what youre getting into first. Good luck.

Do NOT self report!!! You will regret this and be in deeper than you can imagine. I agree with everyone else... find help on your own.

Do not report yourself to the board but get help.I self reported and I am still looking for a job after 6months and will probably lose my house. No I was not diverting either I have no narcotic restrictions in my contract, it's just very frustrating.I have no health insurance and can't pay my bills. I am compliant with my contract I check in everyday to make sure I don't have a drug test and all the other stuff. So no I would not report myself to the board.
