Could anyone please help me??? I passed the NCLEX last December 2008 but I didn't have an SSN so just let my pass letter sit on with my other files until now. I don't know what to do with it? Do I need to take another NCLEX exam? Please help me..

If you have a pass then you shouldn't have to sit the NCLEX again unless the BON decides you have to

So it doesn't matter if I passed my NCLEX in 2008?

Do you now have a valid SS# to work? What state did you pass the NCLEX in? What state do you plan to look for a job?

I passed the CA NCLEX but Unfortunately I still don't have a SSN. I have done anything with my pass letter. It is only now that I looking for options to use my pass letter so I'm unsure if my pass letter is still valid.

I think the NCLEX-RN pass letter is still valid for several years (maybe doesn't expire), maybe some states may ask for a re-test, not sure. But without a SS#, there's no CA license to be issued. There have been some postings here about those in your situation and able to somehow pass the results to NY. However, the same thing will apply to get the actual license issued, you'll need a SS# plus any US employer is going to require a copy of the SS# (the working kind, not the ones just for ID purposes or to drive a car) so that they can E-verify it as to your working status.

If you have some years of a paid specialized hospital experience, you might be eligible for a H1B visa, but those are not the easiest thing to obtain, as you'll also need to find a US sponsor that will hold your job position for several years, which in today's job market, hospital employers can pick from a file drawer of ready-to-go nurses and start their shifts within weeks.

Are you in the States now or still overseas?

I'm still in the Philippines.
