US trained nurse to UK-need advice!

World Registration

Hey guys!! I've made a couple posts in the past, but I am a registered nurse in the United States looking to move to the UK! My boyfriend(who lives in England) and I have been traveling back and forth for 4 years, we are desperate to finally be together!! I'm a newly licensed RN with my associates degree(just passed boards July 9!) and I am currently working on an adult medical/surgical progressive unit. I worked as an aide on this unit for 2 1/2 years and finally transitioned into the RN role!

I know that the NMC has a lot of requirements for non EU/UK trained nurses. Ive read through them on the immigration site. While it sucks for my boyfriend and I to be apart, my plan is to finish my BSN while also getting the required 12 months of RN experience. That seemed to be the best option right now. I'm starting my BSN program on the 26th of this month and it will take me 15 months to complete. I should finish at the end of 2017!

My question is to anyone who has been through this process or anyone who has input! Is there anything that I need to be doing now to get ready for the application process? I don't want to get through my BSN and think I'm all set to apply and realize I missed something!

Also any tips on completing the application process are welcome! Reading through it it seems kind of overwhelming.

Thank you!!

Jennifer
