Renewal of Temporary RN License

World Registration

Hi, I am new here. I am trying to search the net regarding my case but I cannot find any answer. I hope somebody can help me.

I applied for a Licensure by Endorsement in California last 2007 and was able to get a temporary license. But I was not able to get a permanent license since I was not able to provide an SS number. My dilemma is that I need to have an active license in CA again but I cannot find any forum regarding renewal of temporary license. I don't know what should I do, if I have to reapply all over again or if I can just renew. I have seen my temporary license on the verification site but it says delinquent. I have tried reading the requirements for renewal but it said that temporary license is not considered a permanent license if I will be using the 8 year renewal...

I still hold a current license from another state but I really need to have a CA license as my employer is in California. I am not practicing in the US as I am still in the Philippines. Please, can someone help me? REally appreciate all the help.

Temp licenses are not renewable. Do you have a valid SSN? Contact CABRN as you need to either reactivate your endorsement application or reapply, if your other US state nursing license is still valid. Most likely you need to reapply as applications are not kept for 7+ years

NO US SSN then NO CA license

Thank you all for your comments. I still don't have my SSN but my PD becomes current that is why I need to get my CA license. I have been trying to call the board but I cannot get through. I sent them an email twice already but no response yet until now :(

I really don't know what to do. I am on the process of getting the 30 contact hour of CE but after that, I don't know what to do since I only have a temporary license in CA.

Your temp license is expired and it is not renewable. You are not eligible for a CA RN license until you have a valid SSN. No SSN = no license. Calling CABRN is futile as there is no exception as they are have been enforcing the federal guideline that requires only those with a valid SSN be issued a professional license. Other states are slowly implementing this edict.

It's a catch 22, no SSN= no license, no license = no job, no job offer = no visa! no valid work visa = no SSN. SSN are restricted to those who are citizens, permanent residents or who hold a valid work visa

Temporary licenses once expired are no longer valid.under no circumstances is a temporary license extended

Your employer can wait until you are in the US with a valid visa and apply for a US SSN. Many have done it before and many will do it in the future. You can not get a license from CA without it and they will not accept anything from you without it

Thank you for your response. I appreciate it. Hopefully all things will fall into place.
