LPN in the UK?

Hello all, I was hoping you could give me a bit of advice.

I hope this is in the right place.

(Sorry if this sort of question has been asked before, I was unable to find very much information about it...)

Basically, I am in LPN working in America who fell in love with a boy in the UK and after much discussion between the two of us I plan to move there.

What I'm curious about is how my license transfers over. I had heard the the UK doesn't take LPNs or whatever the equivalent of such is there. (Please forgive my lack of knowledge, again, I couldn't find much information).

I was wondering if this was indeed the case.

If so: What sort of credentials do I need...a BSN? And is there any sort of nursing job I would be able to get there, perhaps as some kind of nurse assistant or something while working towards getting my BSN. (Also, are universities particularly hard to get into as someone not from the country?)

If not: What sort of process do I have to go through to transfer my license?

In a nutshell, we LPNs don't exist in the UK anymore. The EN stopped training years ago with existing ENs being offered the education to upgrade from SEN to SRN. There might be the odd one still working.

Overseas students face huge tuition fees in the UK (usually double) and I don't think they let non UK residents do nursing. I once looked into returning to the UK for a university programme and despite having a UK passport in addition to my Cdn one was informed that because I had left the UK for an extended period I would be considered an overseas student and faced a huge tuition bill. I'm also not eligible for various government funded programmes unlike someone coming from within the EU.

A degree is the only route open to you and from what you've posted you don't seem to want to remain in the US for another 2-4 years to obtain one.

Which visa do you plan to use? Work permits are hard to obtain unless you have citizenship from another EU nation in addition to your US citizenship.

This is on the NMC website and they are the governing body for nurses in the UK

We will not accept your application if you are a second level nurse or the

equivalent, for example an enrolled nurse, a licensed practical nurse, a vocational

nurse, a state certified nurse, a nursery nurse, a nurse midwife technician, a

nurse aid.

Nurse training in the UK is now at BSN and because how the nurse training is funded it is extremely hard without showing proof of residency ie 3 years. There are a few universities that do accept International students but few and far and very expensive
