Just applied for NCLEX-RN (2012) Foreign Graduates!

World Registration

Hi there!

I just applied for NCLEX-RN here in Cali, just today. Sent every paperwork and fees needed as stated by the BON in this site www.rn.ca.gov.

I am a naturalized U.S. citizen who graduated nursing in Adventist University of the Philippines (AUP) just this year. I was reading some of the blogs in this site and some people were talking about being denied from taking the exam. Now I'm not sure if I took the right step of applying. I have other friends who just graduated from the same school and are also curious about this matter.

Does anybody know anything if we are eligible to take the exam? I mean, we can wait for the results but it would help those who haven't applied yet. Saves time and money.

THanks! :)

Hi, I'm juts new here. I just went to NEAC in Morayta today. I'm about to sign up until the assisting officer told me that California now requires the applicants that were educated outside the US from year 2005 onwards to enroll to some nursing subjects before they can be qualified to take the NCLEX. She said that it takes two years to finish the additional subjects. I'm still hoping that it's not real because I'm planning to apply this coming year and studying again is a big delay.

It's 101% true. That's good now they are notifying PH applicants early now, as many are not only unable to get their ATT, but everyone is wasting their money on the NON-refundable fee$$.

The BIG problem of enrolling with the other needed courses so mentioned, it could take more than two years to complete, yes. BUT it's two years FROM the time you can actually get "enrolled", that alone could take 1-2-3 years, as you'll be going against 1,000's of other international students with just 1-2 spots possible open spots, I say possible, because there are only a few schools if any now that offer them, without having to take the entire nursing program.

Tell the CHED, PRC and PNA "thanks" for their short changing all of us. Also know that there are currently 12 other states that are denying the application for the same reasons.

You have a option to become an LVN in CA if you wish, but expect more than 6 months to get an answer and there's been word that some are being denied that too.

If you are applying into CA, you must also have a valid SSN, many states are requiring that also.

H1b visa's and immigrant visa and hospital sponsors are not going to happen, any time soon. The expected wait time is 6 years, no hospital is going to wait that long, with the over-supply of USA educated nurses who are already unemployed in CA with almost 50% still looking for their first job after a year.

Oh wow, that just made my heart fall into my stomach. So I should just postpone applying then, you think (steppybay)? I might as well just go back to school all four years. Sigh.

Yes, so sad but true.

It's up to you if you want to postpone or simply look into the other states or become an LVN in CA, then try to get into an LVN-RN program, just know those programs are already impacted with CA students on a couple of years waiting list.

Just know that to endorse any out of state RN license will not work to come back into CA.

Well that sucks... I'll probably just go ahead and submit and see. If anything I'm willing to go back to school or make up for the deficiencies since moving isn't an option. I just hope I have enough strength to pull through. Sigh.

Yes, we had Clinical duties corresponding the Concepts. However, our OR/DR case were separated duties. I don't think it will affect the decision of the board of Nursing in CA.

Actually I think it will, madison. At least from what I've read from everyone here. It's the concurrency problem, that the dates the cases were accomplished did not coincide with the time they were learning the subjects of said cases (like MedSurg and OB).

Are you a 2012 grad too?

i dont want to waste time and MONEY going back to school for CA nclex... 1-2 yrs? ridiculous! unless you have no choice but to stay in CA. There are still some states thast don't have this concurrency issue.. one of them is nevada.

Nope, NV was just listed on the concurrency list, as they just seemed to have enforced it very recently. I think soon, FL and TX will be coming up in the neat future. So hurry, hurry, hurry before the majority of the popular States starts to enforce the rules.

It's on the Sept. 24 thread.
