CRNE to NCLEX - Canadian Student Nurse wanting to write the NCLEX

I am Canadian, and I will soon be graduating with my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from a Canadian university. I am scheduled to write the Canadian Registered Nurse Examination (CRNE) in June 2013. I would, however, like to write the Nation Council Licensure Examination shortly thereafter.

As a Canadian student, I quite frankly have no idea where to begin with the NCLEX. I would like a general idea of how the application process works; I will be applying to the State of Michigan. I have also heard the format of the NCLEX varies incredibly from the CRNE. So what is the exam like, and do you have any helpful study hints?

Our schools assist us through the application process to our respective provincial College of Nurses. The CRNE is a 200 multiple choice question examination, done in pencil/pen on scantron and written over four hours.

The NCLEX in the states is a computer only test with a variety of question types. Here's the website I used to study for the exam: http://nursing.slcc.edu/nclexrn3500/mainMenu.do Try http://www.kaplan.com for free online tests and strategies. It's a test like no other.

The test is Computer Adaptive Testing meaning it continues to give you questions, as few as 75 and as many as 265, until the test has "decided" you are entry-level safe.

I'm wanting to write the NCLEX as well. I'm graduating this year, scheduled to write the CRNE (Ont. Exam) June 5th. I have the unique opportunity of living in Windsor and having Detroit right across the river. I was wondering if someone could help me with the details of the application process; specifically, as to whether I can even start the application process given I don't (and won't) hold a license until at least mid-June 2013, assuming I pass. I have heard it is a lengthy process and really wish to get a jump start on it all now.
