Quality of care comparison MD vs. NP

Hi, I am doing an assignment for final semester in an RN program, and must ask about a pertinent topic to modern nursing. Here is my question: What is the difference in practice and in patient health outcomes (both in clinical and community settings) between an MD and an NP? Is there supportive evidence that one practice produces better quality care and outcomes than the other? If so, why do you think so? Thanks!

I suggest a library search! There are plenty of articles and studies to answer your research assignment. Ask your librarian for help if you're having trouble with the search terms.

There is much extant literature on this topic; you should have no trouble locating a dozen major article on a simple search.
