Can a NP open up thier own practice and not have an MD involved in any way? In any state, particularly Florida?

I've read that most NP need the MD for prescriptions of schedule III meds. If the NP didn't need to write those scripts and only wrote scripts for meds she's allowed to by the state board, does she need an MD to supervise, review charts, etc?

How "free" can an NP be?

It all depends on the state you wish to practice. Yes, there are NPs who own their practice without limitations.

I thought Florida was one of the more restrictive states about scripts, etc.
