Hello I need your help, I have one final course to go in my MSN, NP program, but we have to do a scholarly project to get out. This one hour project is a one hour course that is Pass Fail that we have to present to faculty also has 10 formal papers inside it. It looks like a dissertation with chapters. My problem is that I do not do bad work. I have a 3.5 over all GPA at the school, and an A in my other course ongoing now, invited to join Sigma Theta Tau. I finished the first half last semester but this second half is what I write about. This prof will not address my questions directly, sent what she wanted in one paper which I wrote exactly to include all she said, but naturally she will not pass it and sent it back saying that I have as of yet passed the course but all papers have been written. There is Nothing concrete, and it is like flying a plane with no flight plan. NO teaching at all. I really feel she is jerking me around and not at all being professional. I don't think I will ever get around her to be able to finish the program. What should I do? I have talked to my advisor who is no help and just refers me back to the prof. She did inform the one over my prof who is nice but who may protect her staff instead of me. I talked to one of my former preceptors, a FNP, who is so helpful and on my aside and who is supportive. I know others are having problems too but I do fear she is not willing to let me graduate. I had planned on walking next month with the college commencement too. Now I don't know what to do and am very worried!! I hope you can help.

Wait it out.

Plan on graduating.

Thanks. She did gave me F's on two papers but used only one rubric that had info abt both on it to determine her

F's. Not possible to do that but she did. Over the two semesters I have had her and have been writing papers, this is the first rubric I have seen, but I talked to one who does have authority and learned there was an objective rubric for each paper. I hope you are right that I can plan on graduating, but I just feel she has had it in for me since the start last semester and will not allow me to finish. I am the oldest student in the class based on the bios of the others too. I will have her again next semester to complete this project. I know others are having problems too, but I am her only student now. There were two of us, but the other one presented. I will have to wait and will have to pay for that course again but am grateful I am still in the program. I have done very well and have enjoyed this school until this project that has been handled totally subjectively with lots of corrections and editing comments but no real grading for any paper. I make all her corrections and she again sends it back over and over and over. Thanks for listening.

I am not in school yet. I can't help you with that but I had a prof that was unfair - the only thing that got me thru was PRAYING every day. Just keep trying. Don't give up. I don't know you personally but I know God can speak to that prof for you.

My prayers are with you.

You should have a third person read and edit all of your work before submitting it. It may or may not help you, but having someone else read over your work gives you constructive criticism, independent of your instructor. You could ask the person that presented, they may be able to tell you exactly what the instructor is looking for. Also, e-mail the instructor and let her know that you will be working on the paper over the break, and that you would like for her to review what you have worked on as soon as the new semester begins. Sometimes, it takes a little ego stroking. Hang in there, you're almost there.
