How far in advance did you interview for jobs?

Heres my situation;

I graduated 2 weeks ago from a FNP program. I'm planning on taking my boards early July. I'm 24 weeks pregnant with my second child and am currently working as an RN part-time pretty much stress-free. My original plan was to work until my due date and once on maternity leave, interview and then start a new position in January of 2014.

I've been getting job listings from Indeed.com daily and several of the jobs interest me. I've applied for one of them. So am I totally wasting everyones time interviewing for job i'm not ready for? I feel like experience of interviewing is good practice for me (since I have been at the same job for almost a decade). And who knows, maybe they'll wait???

In my experience jobs are usually filled within 3 months of posting, sometimes less. It takes time to go through the interview process and get credentialling. Nobody is posting positions 9-12 months in advance, unless maybe it's for a very high level position. I don't think in the current job market you will find an employer willing to wait 9 months for you. There are enough people willing to start yesterday.

I agree if you aren't willing to start in the next 2-3 months, then it's too early for you to apply. Most jobs will not be willing to wait that long.
