Hi.I came here 4yrs ago and became a RN.I've seen a lot of foreign doctors. They speak enough English to communicate with nurses and pts.Even though they don't speak fluent English, they seem to practice well. I'm planing to go to NP school this fall.I'm wondering how they work,if there is any foreing NP. Do you think that I don't have any language problem? I mean...Do I have to speak fluent English to work as a NP?

Thank you

Am unsure what you are asking. I have worked with many foreign-trained physicians and nurses throughout the years. Though many had thick accents, they did speak English fluently. However, I assume that you are working in the US and have passed the English exams. So, I would guess that you speak English well but perhaps with an accent? Nothing wrong with that. You do have to realize though that for some patients, that may be a hindrance. You do have to be able to easily understand your co-workers and patients. However, having an accent is not an issue. Good luck.
